bronwyn hope

I’m so freakin’ happy you’re here. Sharing my passions with the world, educating others (along with myself), and really getting to experience all life has to offer is so damn important to me.

So, who am I? I’d like to say I’ve always had a strong sense of self. But the more I get to know myself and as I get older, I’ve come to realize that my self is ever evolving.

I know the things that I love. These things never waver: my family, friends, movement, good food, adventure, travel, security, my cat, and my desire to always be learning.

My life’s purpose is to share knowledge- educate. My endless thirst for learning, getting lost in research holes, and obsessing over becoming an “expert” in anything I embark on has prepared me for this. Language and word choice, being able to accurately and articulately explain something to someone in a way that resonates and becomes learned knowledge is often overlooked. I have been able to hone this skill so that all who decide to learn from me are actually coming out of session feeling like they have absorbed and embodied the information. This is crucial.

So, that’s a little taste of me. For the nitty gritty…keep scrolling.

THETA | Movement by Bronwyn

THETA is my personal wellness initiative. This concept is something I have been dreaming up behind the scenes for some time now and just needed the right kick in the ass to get up and running. So here we are and I couldn't be more thankful that you are here with me.

THETA gets its namesake from theta brainwaves, the ones most closely associated with healing and the integration of mind and body. The slower of the brainwaves, theta waves are most prominent when we are internally focused, in activities like meditation or on auto-pilot. We find ourselves in our most creative and intuitive mindsets when they are firing.

THETA is all about the mind-body connection. Classes are designed to be informative, empowering, and endorphin-inducing. I think that it is important to understand the 'why' in movement and master the 'how'. Not all bodies are designed to move the same way, nor should they! Find how your body likes to move and challenge yourself by trying new things.

movement background

I started dancing when I was a mere 2-years-old. Tedious baby ballet led to recreational jazz, hip hop, and tap, which led to competitive everything. Ballet, contemporary, lyrical, you name it - I did it - for 15 years. In between dance, I figure skated, did rhythmic gymnastics, regular gymnastics, soccer, basketball, triathlon training, track. My poor parents. But, I had to move. Still do.

Fast forward to 2018, after 2 university majors, 1 degree, working as a freelance food writer, a digital marketer, and a bartender, I became a certified Personal Trainer. That 9 to 5 just wasn’t for this mover and shaker.

After a move to Indonesia in late 2018, my passion for movement and fitness didn’t change, but something special did happen. Yoga. I had always “done yoga” or rather spent the class staring at the clock, waiting for the 90 minutes of necessary breathing and stretching, I knew was important for a well-rounded fitness regime, to be over. Enter Bali-tropical breeze, ocean views, and being immersed in a sacred culture that shares a lot of its religious and cultural aspects with that of Indian-born yoga, I fell in love. I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in early 2020.

For me, the way I approach teaching yoga as a cisgender, able-bodied, white woman in the West is careful. Yoga is not a form of exercise to me. If you’re looking for heart-palpating, endless vinyasas, I’d be happy to direct you elsewhere, but you won’t find that here. It is my duty to do everything I can to ensure that this sacred practice is wholly respected.

Yoga with me encompasses all 8 limbs, includes stories of the asanas and their namesakes, is rooted in spirituality, and all the other good stuff that this sacred practice is.

My movement offerings are diverse. HIIT, strength, boxing, barre, yoga, pilates, or a combination of any and all. After every session, I hope you are left feeling informed, empowered, stronger, and invigorated. If you are, I’ve done my job.

The Cheesy Stuff

My professional cheese journey started around the same time as my health and wellness one, in 2018. Well, technically, my cheese journey started long before that, but we’re talking the intentional part of it.

I’ve always been food obsessed. And I used obsessed to the fullest meaning of its definition. My mom, she created a monster. Forever on a mission to find the most mouthwatering, authentic, and gluttonous dishes around, you can imagine I’m not the cheapest date.

I’ve worked in restaurants since I was 15- seen the industry in all its grit and glory. Dining out was always what I looked forward to after crawling through the trenches. Thankfully, along the way, I met just as food-obsessed friends to join me.

My foodsession led me to food writing. Writing had always been a passion. Add food. Boom. Delicious. I landed my university internship at the Food Network Canada, writing for the online sector. I continued as a freelancer, post-graduation. Shortly after that, in a typical Bronwyn-needs-to-always-be-learning frenzy, I stumbled upon the George Brown College Professional Fromager Certification.

Uh, yes, please. Sign me up to become a cheese-pert. So I did. Here we are: hundreds of cheeses tasted, countless hours spent learning the ins and outs of the cheese industry, and becoming even more cheese obsessed. I am so passionate about cheese and am so grateful that there are people out there that too, want to know all about our favourite dairy product. So what are we waiting for? Let’s eat some fucking cheese together!
